First Time Getting Botox? Here’s Exactly What to Expect

Considering Botox for the very first time can feel both exciting and a little nerve wracking. You may have questions like, Will it hurt? How long will it last? Will I still look like myself? These are all normal concerns. At Monroe Lane Aesthetics, my goal is to make sure every step of the process feels comfortable, pressure free, and easy to understand.

Let’s walk through what you can expect before, during, and after your very first Botox treatment.

Before Your Appointment ✨

The first step is always a consultation. This is where we talk about your goals, your medical history, and the areas that are bothering you. It is never a sales pitch. Instead, it is a conversation where I provide honest recommendations that are right for you.

How to prepare:

  • Arrive with a clean face if possible

  • Avoid alcohol and blood thinning medications for about 24 hours beforehand if your provider recommends it, as these can increase bruising

  • Write down any questions so you feel fully informed

During Your Treatment 💉

Many people are surprised by how quick and simple Botox really is. After cleansing the area, tiny injections are placed directly into the muscles that create wrinkles. The needles are very small, and most clients say it feels like just a few little pinches.

The entire process usually takes less than 15 minutes. By the time you finish chatting and asking questions, it is often already done.

What you will feel:

  • A small pinch at each injection site

  • Mild pressure for just a moment

  • No lingering discomfort

After Your Appointment 🌸

Once your treatment is complete, you can go right back to your normal activities. There is no major downtime.

Simple aftercare tips:

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area for the rest of the day

  • Stay upright for about four hours afterward

  • Skip intense exercise or saunas until the next day

You may notice tiny red spots or mild swelling at the injection sites, but these usually fade within an hour or two.

When Will You See Results?

Botox does not work instantly. You will usually start noticing changes within three to five days, with full results visible around two weeks. Your skin will look smoother and more refreshed, but you will still look like yourself. The results typically last three to four months before gradually wearing off.

The Bottom Line 💕

Your first Botox experience should feel empowering, not intimidating. At Monroe Lane Aesthetics, every treatment is designed around your comfort, your goals, and natural looking results that leave you feeling refreshed.
